Colin & Mike Bond – Wilga 1:4 Scale

The plans drawn are completely new and were drawn from collaboration between my brother Colin Bond the builder and myself right through the build. These plans are for a glider tug and are the plans that the Wilga is made from. The Wilga is a conventionally designed plane that is completely plywood, balsa and covered in film.

The plane has a two piece wing easy to transport, length 48" width 14" tailplane also is removable length  36" width 9.5".
Motor size ZDZ 80 RVJ.

The AUW of the completed model is 28lbs. It can be flown with a ZENOAH 62cc.

(30% Wilga Plans now being completed.)

Ray Jones - Dragonfly

The Dragonfly tug which is now ' up and running' this one is built from original plans ,it was designed many years ago when I was doing commercial aerial photography and the fuzz shape evolved as I was carrying large format cameras and video cameras with down links ,the model was so stable it has proved to be an excellent tug , Falcon Aviation are doing a set of CNC cut bits for it and the internal and some external features have been changed to suit that type of construction ,the one you see here has a built up fuselage and tailplane with foam wings which were made from HD foam with the balsa skin being epoxied on ,the whole model is covered in Profilm , the power is a Zenoah 62 with standard silencer but one run in i will attach the tuned KS pipe which gives about 20% more power but even as it is it will pull 6/7metre gliders up , the motor does not have electronic ignition but you will notice that on the front of the prop i have fitted a starter pulley which i made some time ago and works really well just like starting a lawn mower and saves all that 'flicking ' , the model is simple not to ugly but it does work , you cant ask for more than that

The model can be built with flaps this one has full lengh ailerons and i use them as flapperons which work well and keeps things 'simple ,the wings can also be built 'one piece' as this one is or made two piece for easy transport ,you just build in what you want

Wing span - anything fro 80" to " 100 ( this one is "92 span)
Engine size ( as a tug ) from 60 to 100 cc
Weight on average 16ibs ( this one is 17ibs 4 oz )
The tailwheel unit came from AID Design and the aerotow release came from Stuart Mackay Models

Graham Stanley - Jodel Robin from Airworld

Partly built by Chris Strong and Stuart McKay, "completed" by myself, my first "proper" tug. Copes with a wide range of conditions, fairly easy to fly.

The model as is 1/3 scale model specifically designed for towing. by Airworld. The Motor is a King 100cc boxer twin. Prop is 25x12 3 blade Biela, Pipe / Krumscheid silencer RPM not measured yet. Starts nicely, sounds super. Glass fibre baffles (PC board) fitting into the front of the cowl to ensure all the air going into the cowl travels via the engine. Bags of power, I will investigate when I have more hours on it, but vertical climb seems quite likely. This is the first prop I have tried, there might be scope for improvement with size and engine mixtures etc. However, I like it as it is, not stopped when it shouldn't yet and is very quiet and "scale" noise.....

Some servos might need an upgrade from the current Hitec various types, but I can stall most with my fingers rather too easily for comfort. Nose wheel now on a Multiplex Rhino.

Ignition power 4 cell 3,700mAhr, radio power 2 x 4,900 2cell LiPo via PowerBox Sensor electronic switch / regulators.
Rx Multiplex IPD 12ch. Servos assorted Hitec except Multiplex Rhino on nosewheel.

Martin Tigg - Red Bull

Martins' Bull has had a 3.5 month rebuild and is fitted with a Zenoah 62 with tuned pipe, MPX radio and Futaba servos.
